Shopping Spree
This
theme can be a lot of fun for the dancers and the audience. One
teacher created the Shopping Spree theme utilizing all the stores
within
her own community. The store owners loved it, offering her all sorts
of coupons and small gifts. She made small shopping bags with her
studio logo and name, filled them with the coupons, gifts, and her
recital program. The audience loved it!
Other great ideas
Create a program that resembles a store
circular – set up your student lists like coupons or sales slips
• for scene changes, have special sales or “blue light specials”
announced over the microphone to segue into the next number (take a
walk through local department stores and listen to the announcements
that come over their intercom for more ideas) • have a finale that
features shopping carts – senior dancers could wheel out various
baby classes in their carts! Borrow those carts from one of the
stores you’ve featured in your show!
